On April 2,2022 a fire broke out in Waaheen, Somaliland's primary market and one of the largest in the Horn of Africa area, where hundreds of people trade every day. The Somaliland Fire Contingent effectively doused the fire after more than 16 hours.

The National MSME Policy will be implemented using a precise road map that will aid in the policy's effective implementation. The road-map is the guidance and pattern that will help the Ministry and key stakeholders understand the measures that must be taken throughout the Policy's implementation stage.

For the first quarter of 2022, this statistics report summarizes the trends in following areas (i) business licenses, and (iii) tourist visits in Somaliland.The Ministry of Trade and Tourism (MOTT) collects these statistics on a regular basis.

The Somaliland Ministry of Trade and Tourism (MOTT) in collaboration with Shaqodoon Organization hold on 3rd October 2021 a high-level consultative workshop about the five- year implementation strategy of the National MSME Policy at Baraar Hotel in Hargeisa, Somaliland. 

Fuel prices in July and August remained fairly stable. The average diesel price stood between
5800 and 6000 SLS/L, while the average petrol price stood between 6200 and 6600 SLS/L,
approximately. On some days, the diesel average price experienced a higher fluctuation, and
prices went down to between 5600 and 5900 SLS/L.

The Ministry of Trade, Industry and Tourism provides oversight and supervision over the quality and quantity levels of fuel imported into the country.

This report depicts and shows the changing patterns of (i) business registrations, (ii) business licenses, (iii) tourist visits (iv) fuel importations, and (v) tax exemptions provided to local industries in Somaliland during the first six months of 2021.
